EamonKorrikan
I have done my best in the race,
I have run the full distance,
and I have kept the faith.

2 Timothy 4:7 (New Testament)

You sure did, Éamon, and not just in the Korrika! For those of us who had the honor of working with you in the Irish/Basque Association LagunCARA, your faith was authentically Irish and very personal. It consisted of a "vision"; you saw what we could become as an association in the Basque Country, i.e. a vibrant witness to the importance of interculturality (today more relevant than ever), based not on mere tolerance, but rather on active appreciation of the individuality and uniqueness of the other (person, community, language, society...); on a profound respect for the difference in the other; and on a caring for the society in which we live.

And thus Éamon, as a true leader, led us to formulate the Strategic Vision of LagunCara (http://www.laguncara.com/images/docs/201906LagunCara-StrategicReflection...). His faith was an anticipation of things not already realized; he "egged us on" to see the bigger picture, without ever renouncing Joycean immanence and the importance of "the bits and pieces of everyday life" ...
In this, Éamon "kept the faith", a very contemporary, Irish and universal faith; and that for us has made all the difference!

Gure Lehendakari maitea,
zure hutsunea bihotzez nabarituko dugu
maite zaitugu-eta!

(Much-loved President,
you will be much missed,
because you are much-loved.)
